Abstract
Each year, the UCLA School of Law presents the Rutter Award for Excellence in Teaching to an outstanding law professor. On Wednesday, April 23, 2025, this honor was given to Professor Iman Anabtawi. UCLA Law Review Discourse is proud to continue its tradition of publishing a modified version of the ceremony speech delivered by the award recipient.
About the Author
Iman Anabtawi is Professor of Law Emerita at the UCLA School of Law, where she was previously Professor of Law. Professor Anabtawi joined the faculty in 2000, after practicing tax and corporate law at O’Melveny. Before that, she clerked for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit and for Justice Sandra Day O’Connor of the U.S. Supreme Court. Professor Anabtawi was instrumental in developing the Law School’s experiential education curriculum in the area of business law, designing and teaching both Merger and Acquisition Transactions and Venture Capital Financing. She was also a founding faculty member of the Law School’s Master of Legal Studies program. Her research interests and publications span a wide range of business law topics and have been widely cited and recognized.
